Oil-Free Compressors vs. Oil-Lubricated Compressors

Every air compressor works to pressurize air to impart it with usable energy. However, not every application needs to meet the same requirements. While oil-lubricated and oil-free compressors work similarly to produce power and maintain airflow, oil-free compressors are specifically designed to keep air production free of the contaminants produced by oil-lubricated compressors.

Particles of the oil used to lubricate the components in an oil-flooded compressor mix with the air, causing contamination.
